You've got mail ...

Mail art was the theme for this week's Inspiration Avenue challenge.

All week I've had that rhyme in my head - "I sent a letter to my love, but on the way I dropped it..."

I'm not adverse to progress, but it seems quite sad to me that girls growing up today will probably never have a pile of faded love letters - tear-stained, secreted away, and tied up with ribbon. Emails and text messages somehow aren't quite the same...!

So my submission - 4 tiny handmade envelopes (I admit I'm borderline obsessed with envelopes!) - is based on love letters. I'm working on a larger piece at the moment and I'm hoping these will end up as part of it.

  1. Ah they are lovely! I know what you mean- my Mum recently showed me a couple of letters and a poem written by my Grandad, who I never met. There will be no such legacy in years to come. :(

  2. Good Morning Sweetie...
Oh what a glorious share this morning. I absolutely adore these beautiful little envelopes of love that you have created. Absolutely priceless. I love the little folded fan, and the butterfly just waiting to take flight into someone's mailbox.

You are right, it is sad that most will not have those love letters tied with a bow. Everyone just emails now, and cards why it seems are almost a thing of the past. I guess that is why we keep creating and sharing. Hoping to inspire others to create as well.

A beautiful job dear friend. Just beautiful. Thank you for sharing along with me this morning. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  3. Hi Angie,
I totally love your wonderful submission to my mail art challenge. It's a pleasure to study your piece, which reminds me of an art installation in an art gallery. I especially love the heart with vellum envelope and the butterfly about to fly to it's recipient. Fantastic, Thanks bunches!

  6. I am once again late, but not nearly as late as last week. I am in awe of those handmade envelopes, tiny enough to fit on your lovely tags.

Your art is always a treat, since I want to make pieces like yours, but never seem to manage getting the piece in on time. I am more in awe of your composition, color, and design than the actual story each tag and envelope holds. However, I really like the overall piece, too.

  7. These are so lovely and we used to play the game about the poem you mentioned... did you also play the game that went with it or is it an Australian thing... thanks for reminding me...xx

    1. Yes we also played a game with the rhyme Tracey, though I can't quite remember the rules - lost in the foggy mists of time!

  8. I love these little letters - saw your entry in the roundup this morning; somehow I missed it when going through the links. At any rate, I love the creativity and creative take on the theme. Each of those little envelopes is just a joy! Excellent entry.....probably my favorite.

  9. Pretty happy letters (-: I love how they are so small and delicate, yet contain so much. All the submissions make me yearn to get something similar in the mail, and this is no exception! Receiving something like this would make my week. Thanks for sharing such beautiful and finely crafted work here!
