Stockport Open Art Exhibition - sneak preview!

Although I decided a while ago that I wanted to enter, the deadline for the Stockport Open Exhibition has crept up on me! But (assuming I can get them finished before the final handing in day on Saturday), this is a sneak peek at two of the pieces I'm planning to submit -

They're both loosely themed around secrets and memories. The first canvas (above) will have nine little envelopes, their contents partly hidden. As you can see, I've made use of those tiny little playing cards I found in a charity shop for 50p!
The second canvas follows on from my previous paper patchwork idea - I kind of liked the idea of secrets being woven into a quilt. Again this is just a peek at the work-in-progress, there are 30 squares in total.

Now - anyone have any fabulous titles for either of these pieces? I'm thinking poetic, without being completely pretentious ;) Lisa - I can usually count on you for a great name!

  1. Really not good with titles, but they are really beautiful. The second one makes me think `Serenity`

  3. Not good with titles either- "A little patch of blue" (think it is from a poem, but may have misquoted). Love both pieces though- must see if I can get my act together very quickly seeing as I live in Stockport LOL

  4. Here's one that obvious, and you've probably though of it already ~ 'Secret Memories' (for the envelopes). Or, 'Remembered Moments' or 'Moments in Time' for the blue squares.

Oh, UGH...I'd better just go and pick up a paint brush, something I'm better at than words!

I love both of these...the graphic look of the envelope piece and the softness of the blue and brown squares.

Wishing you much success at the art show!

  6. I always have a hard time with titles, so I'm just going to sit back and wait to see what you end up calling them! They are wonderful of course, as are all your paintings. BTW, I can't remember if I told you that your painting arrived and I was able to enjoy it for all of 5 minutes before my daughter Emmie whisked it away to her room- she loves your work as much as I do, so I was willing to share!
