Tears of a clown?

This graphite/coloured pencil drawing is my submission for this weeks' Inspiration Avenue challenge - "Circus". 

It's a bit 70s and kitsch-y but I think I quite like that about it! You can see all the circus themed submissions here.

  5. Oh, this is fabulous, Angie! I love his kind face and the lovely lines of the drawing. Very inspired to add just a bit of color. Of course you had to add red to his nose :D

  7. This is wonderful! I love all the detail you put into his face and then used color to draw the eye down though the piece- his eyes and hands are my favorite bits! Gorgeous!

  11. Very interesting. I've never painted clowns before bcos I always thought there's something creepy abt them. Too much make up perhaps! But you artwork captures d humanness in a clown!

  13. He is wonderful, I love the combination of b/w and colour, gorgeous detail in the face. Yes I know about clown fear, I decided to stencil clowns on my DD bedroom walls when she was very small and now she hates them I reckon its fear actually!!

  14. Hi Angie, I love this! Yes the clown phobia thing is quite common I think, my partner hates them and a friend of our has a daughter who has HUGE panic attacks if she sees one or anyone wearing face paint for fancy dress too.
