I've been having fun playing with this simple photo transfer technique recently. I like the slightly tarnished, ghostly images it gives! All you need to try this technique is an image on your computer, some glossy photo paper, and a surface to transfer it onto (these are on paper and card but you could experiment with other surfaces). The photo paper must be glossy not matt, and happily, I've found the cheaper the paper, the better! Simply print your image onto the photo paper, then mist it with a thin spray of water. Place it image side down onto your paper, then apply some pressure - I use the back of a spoon for this. Then lift gently, taking care not to smudge the image. There are lots of different ways to make photo trasfers; this one is really cheap and easy. Results can be a bit unpredictable but that's half the fun!

  3. Bunny thanks for the compliment! Honestly it is reeeeaally easy!

Luthien you can get much more "polished" images using other techniques, but I like the "artistic" look too!

I'd love to see what you both do if you try it out!

  4. I love how "painterly" these are, especially without having to use paint1 I don't suppose this would work with a laser printer? Oh well, I'll just have to admire yours :)

  8. I've not tried with a photograph, but I love using magazine images and gel medium. Like you, the bit I like best is that you never know what you're gonna get (cue Forrest Gump moment...)
