An artistic day!

c I actually have the luxury of some time to myself this week, after a busy few weeks, so I took myself to the Manchester Art gallery today. I haven't been to a gallery in ages and I was having withdrawal symptoms! I saw the current exhibition, Angels of Anarchy, which focuses on female surrealist artists. I also had time for a wander round the rest of the gallery. Funnily enough I'm often more drawn to sculpture than painting, and my favourite piece in the gallery at the moment is a sculpture of St Sebastian by Claire Curneen (Claire's work is shown above). Now back home, I'm planning to spend the rest of the afternoon on some of my own art! I'm going to try and make something for the Inspiration Avenue challenge this week - the theme is "sky". I don't really feel like painting clouds though, so will need to get my thinking cap on, as my junior school teacher used to say!

  1. Oh, how I love to stroll through Museums by myself. Just leisurely taking in every little thing and exploring every nook and cranny. Good luck on your piece this week...remember...the skies the limit...lol

  2. It's wonderful to get away and never more so than to an art gallery, what a haven!

Might I suggest a moon for the challenge perhaps?? Ok... ulterior motive there! ;-)

  4. Bunny - me too - I much prefer to look at art alone! And "skies the limit" - very good, I see what you did, there! ;)

Sharon good idea, and actually can't believe I didn't think of that, but too late - I've started on something else!

LuLu me too - I'm very drawn to sculpture, especially wood and ceramics, lately!
