The Art of Giving

I came across this website recently - 29 gifts - and I love the idea of it! You basically commit to giving something away, every day, for 29 days. It doesn't have to be money or material things that you give, you could give your time, a compliment, offer to carry someone's shopping for them - you get the idea! It reminds me a lot of the "random acts of kindness" project created by Danny Wallace. For anyone who hasn't heard of him, Danny created a cult, more or less on a whim, by advertising in a British newspaper asking for people to join! Once he had some cult members, he realised he had to think of something for them to do, and so came up with the idea of a "Karma army" who would carry out random acts of kindness every Friday. I love the blog and the book he wrote about this - if you want you can see more about it here. I'm planning a start date for my 29 gifts - I may well do a giveaway in my etsy shop at some point, so keep checking! The photo I thought fitted well as this is a bit of a Buddhist concept! You can find these paintings in my etsy shop.

  1. I loved that Danny Wallace book - I really felt sorry for his poor girlfriend though!

Thanks for your comment on Joy Diversion - it's just round the corner from the Craft Centre, where the road's blocked off. I love finding little bits of graffiti like that, it's very sad but it always makes me very happy!
